Unplugged From the World

The news was all bad It was making me mad A waste of time reading I'd rather be glad So I stopped for a week Stopped on a dime Unplugged from the world And had a great time I sneaked a peek today Everything the same Except for my mood ~ I'm happy and sane

I refused to watch the news for thirty years in a row, best thirty years of my life. I may have to go back to that.

We all should do that from time to time - would probably keep us from crime :) Lovely write. God bless you

Interesting comment, Gina. I can just see you or me 'committing crime.' We are probably the two least likely criminals who ever walked the face of the planet... At any rate, unplugging certainly IS a great idea. Thanks for all of your support. Blessings, Gershon

What you say is so true - nothing changes in the world even if we step back from it for a year. The bad news will still be bad , but different, and the good news will still be sparse, wish it could be more though. Great write, Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

You're right Gershon. Often when im away I dont have access to whats going on in the world and feel so relaxed because of it. So much doom and gloom today, we don't need iy. Tom

The news these days is pretty grim. Though we have to get the news, there is such a thing as too much. A fine poem, with nice rhyming. Best of wishes, Evelyn :)

Thank you, Evelyn. So rare to find a cheerful piece of news. Such a shame. :) gw

You know I did something different today, quite unplugged. You’re right, things don’t change that much or at all.

If I had unplugged in Israel 45 years ago, the only things that would have changed are the names. All the disputes and discussions are exactly the same! The U.S.A. has changed a bit, but not that much. Says a lot about wasting much time on 'the news' every day... Cheers, Kim! :) gw

Sometimes I want to unplug from the world. Poetry is a great outlet ;) Great poem, Gershon!

Yes, indeed. Poetry takes you far from the madding crowd. So does unplugging. Perhaps we can say: 'Unplug and write poetry! Sounds like a plan to me. Thanks, Angie. :) gw
