Unopened Window

~ I stood at the unopened window, watching it rain from the sky Complaining inside of a future that seems to be passing me by Regrets flooding every emotion, moments no longer appear Searching for hope in the downpour, since you are no longer here Wrapped up in clouded decisions, feeling the glass wet and cold Dreaming of reasons I love you, swallowing words now untold Hoping for merely a sentence, no longer needing the sun Puddles collect in the fractures, knowing it soon will be done And as the rain drops are ending, nothing much left now to view Here at this unopened window, drenched in the days without you ~

Of the several poems I have read of yours Chris, I think this is my favourite. It's emotive, passionate and poignant. I think poems are a great way to convey emotions and this poem is a great example of hurt felt inside. I was particularly fascinated by the lines: "Complaining inside of a future that seems to be passing me by.."

It is Smita but that was a long time ago, though there will always be a bit of an empty feeling and that is ok. Thank you for reading and commenting on my poem.

The sadness drips from your pen, Chris, and I know many who can relate to this. Your poems have such a rhythmic element to them. They flow so beautifully! :)

A heart-drenching piece, Chris ~ I totally get it. I guess since the raindrops are ending, it will soon be time to open the window and take a deep, cleansing breath... gain a new perspective, my friend ~ Loved this <3

Every line of the piece tells a story... passionately penned piece this is. I could see myself in this piece but I am no more there. I wait for no 'me and you' moment, I create the kind of moment I want. Just kidding. Bravo Chris!

Perhaps many of us get the feeling that life is passing us by, but I haven't seen it articulated this well previously, Chris. I love the way you describe him standing by an unopened window, yet "drenched in the days without you." Excellent writing, my friend. Hugs, Carolyn

Wrapped up in clouded decisions--I like that line, it fits so well in the scene. Neatly woven bluesy poem.

Thanks so much John. I'm not sure but I like it too. Maybe because it somehow becomes something many of us can relate to. There always seems to be this weird welcoming feeling when something is melancholy. I am glad you enjoyed this one so much.
