Unless the Heart

.

Unless
it gives away to others
a part of itself,
quite strangely,
the heart can never
hope to be whole.

Unless,
like a lake, it generously
drains itself
unto thirsty streams,
the heart will stagnate
and stink.

Unless
it bares its vilest sins
in a humble plea
for forgiveness,
the heart will be
a stranger unto itself!
