Unless My Heart Is Happy

Because I needed to find out
 ~ not just feel it.
So I took a dive into the depth of my being,
there I found her ~ my soul.
Alone, floating in a dim bottomless space
with her head bends down low,
but upon sensing my approach,
she lifted her head to face me.

The instant our eyes met
my heart stopped... frozen in space.
Tears oozing down hastily.

She's alone, cold and sadness was masking
 her frail face.
Visible streaks of tears gleam.
What have I done to her ~ my soul?

This profound moment has my heart weeping silently
At a lost of words, soundless scream echoing in my head.
My heart slowly melting into a pot of pain
I wanted to reach for her and hug her
to my heart forever.
Her ~ my vulnerable soul

Oh, but baby this is utterly heart shattering,
because I can't!
I can't help her ~ my soul,
unless my heart is happy...

            Smile

This is cathartic to read; I am a therapist, and one of the things we often teach people is to took for their hurt child and talk to her, let her know that you did not appreciate what others did, that you would have saved her if you could have. This poem reminded me of that strategy that often works. Wow!

Blown away by expressed emotions here,I feel I live in limbo, pretending everything's ok when inside I'm dying.I relate to you so much and you're wonderful words. Both wounded, but not beyond healing, Love your poetry, it's almost my reflection. Take care. Well done.

Akkina my dear sister... the pain, the very depth of anguish. I have a similar one; I just refer to my inner self as my muse. This is intense and amazing. I hope you're okay over there.

Hi Akkina, such a beautiful poem this is, full of emotions and a really enjoyable one to read, many people s heart is broken in this world, we can pretend to be fine with a smile on our face but many times the reality is different, our heart is broken, broken into many pieces, but this is life, it will go on and on, and God don t test anyone more than that person can bear, every broken soul will find a purpose to smile and a purpose to live, good luck and a really nice written poem this is
