Unheard Plea

She could bring sunlight to the darkness Warmth to the cold Joy to the sorrowful The inner child to the old She had such a passion for life Viewed through positive eyes Not perfect by any means She had lows and highs After colliding with trauma ….she lost her way Addictions mighty grip took hold Desperate, alone and homeless No more living a life of gold “Help me” ,she managed to whisper As she lay in pain and harm Not a soul heard her desperate plea As she died with a dirty needle in her arm

Terrible tragic end to a life, partially because no one was listening to her cries for help, or just didn't care. Very sad situation that many find themselves in. Thanks for reminding us we need to be aware of others as we deal with like ourselves. I've enjoyed catching up on your poetry today, Deb. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us through your heartfelt poetry, my dear friend. My twin from another mother, Bill :-)

Dear debsz, this made me tear up really. Youv described the underlying truth of addiction so well here, how trauma often leads to that and one is left alone and forsaken and frowned upon by the society not realising what they truly need is help, as it is an illness that so many are stuck in. It made me the most sad reading the last lines. Ive seen so many go through this. Poignant and heartfelt storytelling of an individual suffering with addiction youve delivered. I felt his one deeply. Dear Deb M, I am a D&A and MH Counselor and your poem resonates with me for it is a powerful exploration of the human struggle with addiction. It’s a heartbreaking journey from light to darkness, from joy to despair. Your words serve as a stark call of the silent battles many face, often unnoticed. Keep using your voice to shed light on these heartwrenching issues. - Blessings, Daniel

Oh why stoop to such acts that lead to suicide? I always feel a tear when I listen to Whitney Houston.

Taking drugs starts and ends with a cry for help; it is a sad state of affairs. Another heartfelt, compassionate poem, Deb. I hope you are feeling better today. Look after yourself. Love, Old Duck XX

Drugs are so easy to come by Deb, they need to target the pushers more, that way victims would seek other avenues for help. Tom
