Undying Persistence
Triggered by unrequited love,
rejection's rage is the norm.
And any chance of happiness
is lost in the wake of fate's storm.
Truth devastates frustrated hearts,
left in this vulnerable state.
Yet, with but a flip of a coin,
Lady Luck might alter your fate.
Because you’re like an open book,
your feelings cannot be concealed.
And exposed, fantasy dreams die
as your worst nightmares get revealed.
Secretly, your heart feels empty,
like it's been hollowed out inside.
And hidden tears swell up and spill,
no matter how many you've cried.
Desire and suppression have you
sliding down a slippery slope.
Yet, with undying persistence,
you desperately cling to hope.
