Undergrowth with Two Figures -Van Gogh

Describe what you see my love, she queries
A game they often play in the depths of the forest
He replies, Turgid are the woodlands densely they’ve died back
creeping where no life is seen,
between the flowery meadow's cracks
The poplars have shed their leaves leaving violet trunks bare
For it isn’t rare, sun light that shan’t filter thru the canopy
Entrapped is the pale old plant ivy green
However, the white roses striving and yet flutily parade
whilst tolerating the languorous shade
As he describes his innermost inhibitions
without interference or shame
In the distance, expanding their horizons together
Both aware 'tis a harbinger of the end game

Dearest Anaya, soulful poet, the intimate conversation set against the busy scene of the forest (where growth thrives or can die much like one's relationship) is ingenious! The exploration of emotions, the poetic exchange is beautiful. The rich depths you reach within the confines of Van Gogh's artwork expands without confines in the depths of this reader's mind and heart. Your brilliant artistry and intellect on full display. Congratulations for your success in DD's contest. Let's raise a glass.. here's to you, my sweet friend! Clink! Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Dear sweet anaya, This is such a creative and deep poem woven for the artwork, i do read every week alot of entries for picture prompts on my insta community and i always like poems that touches little details of the artwork and youve done that very well here, i especially love the ending “In the distance, expanding their horizons together Both aware 'tis a harbinger of the end game” what a strong ending! And also the flow of imagery and how youve woven words throughout is truly impressive! Congratulations on your win in the contest . Pleasurr reading your interpretation. Sending you light always

Anaya, I really like how you've put the characters from the painting as the central theme and allowed the poem to reflect their commentary and observation from inside the painting. A different perspective indeed. That takes some engineering of thoughts! Smiles!

Good to hear your review, today. It was painted by Vincent one month before his death, hence melancholy fatalities impressions. Ty, Duke!

Ty, dear Paula! It looks that way, it's a little vague, what's going on around his mid-section, from afar it looks like stemming plants in front of him and no face on the woman, it's a beautiful Van Gogh ~hugs

I was smitten by your bucolic metaphors. So rueful yet hopeful are your words as you portray love's evolution toward an inevitable irrepressible eternity. Well- done! Robert

Dear Anaya, I am always a fan of Van Gogh. Your words breathe such an ethereal melancholy, a forest in both beauty and inevitability. I truly liked the interplay of life and decay, light and shadow, love, understanding, and the quiet acceptance of fate. Haunting yet exquisite. Winter Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel
