Under the Stars

Under the stars on a warm summer night, many years ago, oh what a sight. Fireflies glowing in the sky, earth worms crawling near by, Summer vacation was such a joy, when I was just a boy. Under the stars on a warm summer night, many years ago, oh what a sight. Written August 6, 2011

YEs, james, you are just like me. I miss the fireflies too! They were sometimes called lightening bugs, maybe even more often than called fireflies!

soft nostalgic memories are so much a part of poetry, James. Nice job of it and thanks for your comments. I understand about the back thing. Have to see my chiro every couple of weeks just to keep going. thank God for him. Alternate heat and cold works good to pump out the inflamation, My friend. Hang in there

Remember those times myself..Enjoyed going down memory lane with your work..Thanks for stopping by, reading, and commenting on my work with such kind comment..I am sorry to learn about your back problems..I am still not completely over my surgery of March of this year.. I had a cyst at L3/L4 that had to come out and dr. hollowed out around a facet joint..I have had some more muscle spasms since then..It is going to get well though...Sara

Yes indeed. Things seemed so much brighter and more colorful when we were kids. Everything was more beautiful. Fresher, cleaner, better. Maybe it's just that it was us. Good job here James. God Bless, JB

This is very pleasant. You always manage to recall your childhood with such sweet verse. Sorry about your back. You may have told me but I have a bad memory. I am not in good shape these days either, but it's nothing that keeps me down, just a big fat pain in my back!! Luv, Andrea

A perfect rhyme for this time of year. Fireflies are so much a part of summer and your inclusion of them in this verse is so appropriate.

You took me back to some wonderful summer nights in my youth, James. Don't put too much pressure on commenting; want your back to get better, okay? This poem is lovely. Great memories! Love, Carolyn
