Under A Streetlight

shadows burn
through the bulb;

they whitewash the
darkness on my skin;

body shapes the fire
within, without. under

the glasslight blinks,
once, twice; brief, alive; in

the longest rain
passing on all her shadows;

heavy and wet, this streetlight's
~cast something~ flickers out —

broken is seemingly not the
same thing as dead.

Paige, you have very nice poem. Impactful! As you stated, structural damage is not total destruction; survival persists despite losing external support, and even a flickering light still holds life. The life we live seems to be on loop. Life is like a candle flame. It burns until it is almost out and gets a new breath of life where the flame blooms again. - Chris

Broken can also be an illusion or broken could be whole or broken could be both becoming & remembering : it’s all perception. I like the line re the longest rain : feels like her shadows are being washed away. Very effective imagery, Paige & good title for poem. Lots to reflect upon. Well done, Sweets. Light your way.

A beautiful composition. Walking in the shadows cast by the streetlight can be pleasant and fearful at the same time.
