UNCONDITIONAL
UNCONDITIONAL
To all the mothers, near and far,
Beneath the brightest, guiding star,
Or in the quiet, gentle gleam,
Living out a precious dream.
For every tear you've softly dried,
For every fear you've cast aside,
For scraped knees kissed and made anew,
For whispered words, both kind and true.
For sleepless nights and weary days,
Lost in a loving, hazy maze
Of tiny hands and hungry cries,
And lullabies beneath the skies.
For lessons taught with patient grace,
For holding tight in time and space,
For letting go with aching heart,
And playing well your vital part.
For strength you didn't know you held,
When life's harsh stories were compelled,
You stood as bulwark, firm and tall,
Protecting loved ones, one and all.
For dreams you nurtured, big and small,
Responding to each hopeful call,
For cheering loud each small success,
And offering comfort, no distress.
For all the meals and endless chores,
The opening of countless doors,
The guiding hand, the steady lead,
The planting of each precious seed.
For all the love, a boundless tide,
That swells within and will abide,
Through every season, ebb and flow,
A constant warmth, a gentle glow.
So let us pause, and let us say,
With grateful hearts, this very day,
To all the mothers, everywhere,
A love beyond all compare.
