Notes About The Poem

Unchained Melody

A gentle murmur from receding waves
the tender sound
of your voice
rippling
words.
Sand
trickles
through my toes
as time goes by
I think of you and hunger for your touch.

Dear Paul, the depth of emotion your talented pen conveys with so few words never fails to amaze me. The last line is a stroke of genius and packs a poignant punch! Love Unchained Melody.. I was just listening to version of it the other day by Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles recorded in 1966 - a beautiful rendition! Warmest wishes and hugs always, my wonderful friend.. ~Susan

You’re so very clever, Paul, as it occurs to me that this could be a sensual personification of the sands longing for the tides return.. (a topic I’ve written about recently but I’ve not yet posted the poem..) You are ever enchanting, my friend!! Congratulations on your wonderful! :))

What a lovely tetractys, Paul! Thank you for sharing this day at the beach and best wishes in Eve's contest. "Unchained Melody" was used in the movie "Ghost," and it was the most romantic scene I can remember in any movie. Hugs, Carolyn
