Uncertainty

Soft couch, cold night, amazing light
Cappuccino I sipped last night
Compares to something I can’t fight
And there’s this star shining so bright

Is it the star I’ve asked for?
Is it the sign I’m waiting for?
Is it worth risking my heart for?
Is it time to open my door?

Fence of love, I’ve been on both sides
Tried the swing, the see-saw, the slide
Loved the low, high, and midway tides
I laughed, I cried, I lived, I died

Suddenly it’s all clear to me
Now as I write this poetry
No need for a lucky penny
No need for this anxiety

We vow, for worse or for better
Words can be sweet or bitter
It might end sooner or later
I’ll have you, that’s all that matters
