Uncertainty

UNCERTAINTY

A Poem by Debbie_Philly

" A matter Of Trust "

                         Uncertainty

Everyday in everyway
Words, action, thoughts
Get twisted to fit the play

Honesty, integrity, truth
             HONOR
         Those words
 The meanings are so far
 From the lips of today’s
          Fellow man

 There was a time when
   Someone would say
  “I give you my word”
       They meant it

   My mind is encased
   With the intentions
          Of others
 The paths they lead to
     Are rarely golden

We must open our hearts
     Open our minds
    To another time
   When men stood

      For something
   Stood by their words
Said them with conviction
   Stuck by their actions

I do not see this in the
Eyes and minds of todays
               Man
    It breaks my heart

I sure as hell never wanted
          To die alone
These days one never knows

Hi Debbie, Congratulations on achieving No. 1 position. I have often thought the same sentiments. There seems to be something basically wrong in praising rude behaviour and denigrating good. You are a truly an enlightened soul. God bless you in your life. I truly hope you shall find the inspiration to write more poetry to awaken the dulled senses of some of the misguided souls we may find ourselves involved with as we travel through this world together. Regards Theresa xx

I believe there are many honorable men and women who's words hold meaning. I so often hear people in my age group talk about the young people of today and how they are somehow less honorable than our generation. From my experience I can say there are amazing young people and I think the future holds great possibilities. I enjoyed your thought provoking poem

This reminds me a bit of my poem "Golden Age" which focuses on how people focus on a time that never was, an idealized white picket fence with a happy family with 2.5 kids going to a great college sort of time.

Honesty, truth, integrity, and honor are rare commodities. They always have been, and always will be. That's why there are so many used car salesmen and politicians around.
