Umbrella
Umbrella
Rain poured heavily upon my heart,
Soaking my head to my feet
Wind yanked my umbrella
It flew across the sky
And faded into the clouds
Lightening struck
And broke it apart
Ha , ha , ha the beastly thunder mocked
My heart rumbled and neared a dissolve
My clothes clung to my skin
Hugging my frame
At my core I felt warmth and satisfaction
Great grandma’s hands touched the thread that lay on my bed
A splendid craft
A quilt of no pattern or design
Rough, tight strings
Loose buttons from old clothes ,beads and sequins
Weaved and sewn onto a plane
Colors of every kind known to man
Realized by her fresh eyes and unique perspective
I’ve drowned in murky waters and stumbled amongst rocks and rubble
I’ve emptied out the well
And dried my eyes
The brawl has come to a close
