Notes About The Poem

Umbrage

Our soul's ascent has nothing to do with age, if as yet dark animal instincts prevail, that on facing rebuffs, heart still takes umbrage, unable to quell raging fires that assail, recognising not that life is but a stage, where if we're detached, we may joyfully sail. Let's forgive transgressors as we breeze through life, in time dissolved stillness, at all times bliss rife. 02-November-2022

When on the receiving end of unpleasantness, after I count to ten, I often think that the person who has more than ruffled my feathers might be having a bad day. Not always successful but it does bring me back to center. Had that experience yesterday but by reaching out, listening and discussing the negative outcome turned into a positive outcome. Timely poem for me!

Looking yet deeper, each person acts as they can based on their soul development. Knowing no better, they can do no better. So acceptance rather than forgiveness is the key to lasting inner peace in my view.

I understand this as I perform my own theatrics! "recognising not that life is but a stage"

Attention pendulum swings, let it but knowing what it’s doing, what’s happening
