Ultimate Betrayal

The smell of burning passports,
The apprehension of tacit eyes laying upon indecent spitting,
Spitting upon what was held so dear,
The ultimate betrayal,
Sledge hammer taken to metal and concrete,
Ringing persistent strikes which are played
Played like an eternal record in my mind
Petty desires fulfilled in a manic moment of mistake
Regret never vanquished from the evil chords within
Downright dirt
Ashes turned to dust
Dust washed away by oncoming showers
Trickling forth from the crying skies full of agony
Remains of that which held dreams
Drowned by the mighty waters
Harsh reality settling in that there is no taking back
No taking back
This ultimate betrayal.
