Ulladu Narpadu Addendum 92

The I-thought arises and then subsides,
if in stillness we watch it for a while
but be wary because it simply hides,
surreptitious ego’s serpentine guile,
a game of hide and seek, till life’s last mile.
Attention fixated on Self alone,
is the way oh hermit, how we atone.

Dear US, Your poem stirred a larger thought in me with that narrowing waterway, like narrowing paths in life, forcing us to ask whether dreams can survive constraint. Feels like the rhythm of existence itself expansion, contraction, possibility, limitation. What I appreciated most was how you left the question open, it depends on whether we believe dreams are fragile or resilient. That kind of ambiguity is what makes poetry philosophical, wrestling with the mystery rather than resolving it. Holiday Blessings, Dear US, Daniel

It is so difficult to annihilate the ego altogether. It may subside for sometime, but would surface the next moment. Unfortunately it is human nature. Hermits succeed to some extent. Great thoughts, dear Seeker friend.

No, don’t annihilate ego, just instrumentalise it, resting in thought rested awareness. It is doable when attention is totally internalised.
