Two Voices Alike
Within the dark mystery of twilight,
He listens to two interchangeable discourses
One, the gentle persuader, the other-- life’s blamer:
Troubled by this seething exchanges,
Both conscious and unconscious tones resound
As the master's lungs boom pound onward
To the nowhere of a mind, utterly disturbed.
Regaining the gall to forge on with vigor
Which seeks clarity from past misgivings,
Rumbles escalate through mimicry's barbed language
Amid the hole of evening…And to have known
This quarrel, these twin voices muttering
With such power he never imagined…until he
Choked their loud acts, their vicious grandstanding
That a mindful awareness is finally lifted, his redemption:
So, pray tell... who is the sound-alike muppet,
the conscious mind or the inner instinct?
