Two Decades of My Life
Time flies, yes,
Two decades already
And it seems just like yesterday,
When a fragile virgin girl-child
Was wrapped unto the overjoyed
Waiting hands of her parents!
Two decades and counting,
I want to fly with it,
A bird with two right wings,
Free to twitter in the open air
Air is free, life is a gift!
Two decades already,
It doesn't feel like the number 20
As I pray twenty decades in my Rosary!
A dot in a million years,
Yet, that's my whole life so far!
Two decades and counting,
Wow! I love the feeling of maturity,
Of coming of age,
And swimming with the tides
Life churns out at random.
I love the feeling of womanhood;
I feel like I can hold the stars
In my hands and kiss the moon!
At twenty, I want nothing more than
Good health, more wealth and happiness,
It's not too much to ask!
The last four years of my teen
Saw many waters pass under the bridge,
They saw a heart full of love,
A heart broken, and many sleepless nights
And rivers of tears-soaked pillows!
I've seen the low and the high,
What most old women saw and shudder,
Yet, like a Meteorite I rise,
I rise from ashes like a Phoenix!
I no longer feel cocooned
Or tossed hither and tither
By spinners of the ethereal firmament,
A kiss rolling far off
To the eyes of the sea where
I'll row my boat in the midst of storm!
I'm not a woman on her knees,
I'm the captain of my ship
The CEO of my life!
