Twisted Roots of Despair
Sadness fills the air
On this cold and misty morning
I look at you but only to
Have your soulless eyes stare away from me
How did we get to this place
It is either a break up
Or a break down
Who can say for sure
The air feels heavy as I breathe in the dampness
Of the chilly blanket that surrounds me
Everything seems very wrong
Is this worth working out?
And did we ever put enough effort into us anyway?
Never mind, it doesn’t matter
Long ago I was told
Be in love with where you’re at
And you will find true happiness
Right now that seems hard to find
So I’ll go down the darkest path I can find
In the twisted roots of despair
And somehow I’m going to break through
To the brightest spot that will shine
I’ll be whole once again
And I will find the happiness of where my feet will finally land
On the warm, soft ground
