Notes About The Poem

Author's Notes: I just completed "Twilight Whispers" earlier today. It started out as a "fun-write" of sorts, but then I discovered a special metaphor concerning "whisper-like tones" to describe the conversation between the couple in the poem as they walked slowly along in this lush forest. With the couple's whisper-like tones, I was then able to liken their signification to a type of ethereal reality of a "mythic rhythm," which became a sort of magical convergence factor for the "souls of the couple" and the "spirits of the forest" to essentially become one toward the end. This particular moment, for me, metaphorically pointed to a type of "spiritual epiphany." At least, this was my eventual conclusion as this verse unfolded over time. Twilight Whispers

Twilight Whispers

Our whispers during twilight,
highlight a mystical moment
of owl-light during our special
walk together in this lush forest.

This moment captures for us a
period of true tranquility where
issues, problems, and other earthly
worries carry no weight, no penalty.

Holding hands now, we walk slowly,
whilst gently speaking to one another
in whisper-like tones bespeaking a
mythic rhythm now that’s one with
our souls and the spirits of this forest.

Beautiful and a reminder that without nature, we might forget and lose touch with who we really are - human beings not human doings. A joy to read. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

When we are surrounded by nature we become a part of it naturally. I feel it revives the spirit and deepens feelings of intimacy. This is lovely Gary! : )

Hello Art, Thanks for your read here and your reference to the "Black Forest." Living in Germany, and having been to the Black Forest myself in southern Germany, I can see why you thought of this. (We also have a great forested area near where we live at here in the northern part of Germany.) The early twilight hours in verdant settings like these forested areas brings the magic of twilight whispers with them. Best Wishes, Gary

Why thanks very much Heidi!! I really appreciate your read here and your very kind words -- and the favorite too!! (I just started out causally playing around with the words in this verse until the significance of the metaphor and its various associations became obvious to me.) Always amazing how the creative process tends to appear out of nowhere!! Best Weekend Wishes, Gary
