Virelai
A French poetic form with alternating rhymes and line lengths. Here are the basic guidelines: nine lines per stanza. lines one, two, four, five, seven, and eight have five syllables. lines three, six, and nine have two syllables.
verse 1: 5a/5a/2b/5a/5a/2b/5a/5a/2b
Verse 2: 5b/5b/2c/5b/5b/2c/5b/5b/2c
Verse 3: 5c/5c/2a/5c/5c/2a/5c/5c/2a

Dawn returns the light stolen by twilight shadows. With the stars still bright and the bats in flight; Sol shows. And lured by daylight; butterflies alight and pose. Sunbeams stroke each rose, as though they were froze in time. And scented primrose flowers make meadows sublime. An odor arose and entered my nose; springtime. Nature in Her prime, a perfect Showtime delight. Clocking overtime, church bells and owls chime on-site. And Sol starts to climb, imbuing daytime with sight.
