Twilight Is Calling (Tears Are For the Dead)
At one time I was the apple of his eye
But in a moment in the hospital he lie
I just 6, entered, and could only cry
He had changed so much since the last time
Twilight was calling his name
Mine being the same
Yet, I didn’t know what to say
He turned his head a tear in his eye
And chuckled to choke back his cry
“Tears are for the Dead” he replied
And he turned his head back with no more word to speak
His words and actions were the last I would know
Till his funeral where the cries did grow
He left me with a legacy I didn’t quite understand
Still I tried to live by it as best I could plan
Everyday a new meaning comes to hand
That life is meant for the living and crying for the end.
When twilight is calling and I am on my death bed
I will laugh and with a tear in my eye, chuckle and turn my head
Laughter is for the living, crying is for the dead
