TV Thievery of Summer

Past times I’ve failed to
Enjoy fully, because
Of the many screens

 To spend my night in
Loud or quiet times, and sure
 To sleep in so late

 Oh TV screens you
Steal my sleep, my summer and
 My life, not this time

I've really been enjoying your poem and the emotions and imagery were so vivid that i could easily picture them as beautiful illustration. I'm a commission-based manga/webtoon artist, and I’d love to discuss the possibility of bringing this poem to life if you're ever interested. also want to add division is rampant we are being dis-empowered Divide and conquer I believe there is much change occurring which will bring about self love, love for thy neighbour and re-connection with the divinity of God Blessings Douglas

Good day Angle It is great that you have become aware of the addictive power of the television set. I learnt recently that the television was patented as a mind control appliance in 1929. It was first introduced into Australia in 1956 when i was 8 years of age . There were 17 and 19 inch black and white screens I never lived in a home with TV until 1966 I have no TV now for over twenty five years no mobile phone . Play guitar grow my own food Into community support Read my poems Where do the Children Play Nodders Blue Light and Dementia Blessings Douglas

I like this and wish many of the younger generation would read it. You are right that electronics are mesmerizing and if you let them, they will steal enjoyment time. It would be better to companion with the "real-world" for experiences and real fun and sever the relationship with electronics. Can you imagine leaving your cell phone alone for a full day?

TV has an addictive pull that draws us into laziness. Wisdom will judiously choose which program to watch and which to refuse among the thousands available. There are so many other activities equally restive but also energizing us to exercise and profit. Good brevity here, Angle, welcome to Poetry Soup.
