Turtles Begin

Turtles Begin

When gold sand smiles bleached
Rolled on orange warm winds
Turquoise waves peak, crest, crash
Lapped up, evaporated, under the yellow halo sun
Hollow shells sing pink remembering
Reach their climax on the beach
Peach groves grow far inland in fertile soil
Life at the shore is harder though
Not as soft as delicious fruit
Wobbly legs, web feet of green
Leather back small creatures flee
Escape native’s spears flying awkwardly
Turtles outsmart them by sheer numbers
Run for the shade of lumber under the wooden bridge
And back to the oceans original intent
Swim to begin it all again
