Tuesday

Tuesday So much hate in just one presidency So much division in less than four years How can just one man be the reason for the riots, shootings, and xenophobe fears What kind of leader is teaching our kids What kind of man shuts the refugees out What kind of country does he want to have and why must he tweet, and why must he shout For 200 years, our nation is strong The freedom to speak, the freedom to hear Even those guilty of treacherous crimes are innocent till, a jury of peers An aisle between two methods of thought A balance between what is best, for most! A handshake between, when compromise aught We stand to unite, then pray for our ghost’s Who fought on the fields for freedom before Still standing, frontlines, right hand on the heart and yet, we forget the reasons behind, our purpose to fight in worlds apart The causes we stand have not come to pass But now are at home to tear down the rich To take away God like snakes in the grass Encourage the youth with Trojan-horse pitch A third party rose in 'righteousness' guise "'Come!' and out came another horse, bright red" Behold, a great sword so sharp, it deceives We can't save them all, yet heal whom has bled Our left and our right may stand in this reign Together in mud, yet never in vain Together, we stand; Together, we surge "America: The last, best hope of Earth" ©2018 Jeffrey Spencer
