Try To Be Understanding

My beliefs may be alien to you I’ve heard it said that I’m a crazy ol’ kook, And I admit it, sometimes I deserve a boo, But I must tell you, I do not deserve a rebuke. My beliefs are as valid as yours Since no one knows all the answers to life, We know so little, even after cosmic tours Disputation often arouses too much strife. So, why castigate those who are different Is it that we fear those who are not like us? Think carefully before becoming a dissident And try not to throw anyone under the bus! This is why unless I trust you or you are just a photo on a website, I do not trust anyone with my own truths. "So, why castigate those who are different Is it that we fear those who are not like us?" - the fear factor is alive and well.

I really enjoyed this poem. It flows easily and expresses very neatly the need for understanding and tolerance, especially in the world as it is today.
