True Love Waits
Her perfume on the note that said goodbye,
Reminds me every day, i want her more.
With sorrow when she left, i questioned why
That girl who broke my heart, i still adore.
What's left for me, without her by my side
Deep melancholy's moods, blighted my life
Of unrequited love, and dented pride.
Then anger changed my mental state to strife.
Seeking revenge, when i found out she lied.
My true love was unfaithful, and with child.
What could there be to make me satisfied.
I was betrayed, besotted, and beguiled.
So now, pretending that, i do not care
I act the part that's oh! so debonnaire.
True love once lost is harder to regain.
Escorting ladies out to dine and dance.
One glance into my eyes, they saw my pain
I was insane for seeking out romance.
This girl i would have married haunts my mind.
I wrote to her, and begged for us to meet ,
She answered yes, then asked if i would find
A small cafe where we could be discreet.
Her anxious smile showed feelings of regret
She held my hand, and said she would explain
This was not easy for me to forget
We talked awhile and pledged to meet again.
One day by chance i met her with her son
Since then romantic letters have begun.
