Notes About The Poem

The Funom's Sonnet is a new style of sonnet of my own creation. After trying the Occitan sonnet as a new challenge with a good score from critics, I have decided to go an extra mile in composing sonnets.

The Funom's Sonnet consists of 14 lines, each line made up of 7/8 syllabic word count. The rhyme pattern is in this form

a-b-a-b,a-b-a-b,c-c-c,d-d-d.

The major unique feature of this new kind of sonnet is its words. Apart from the rhyming words, all other words in this poem should consist of not more than three letters. For instance, one of the lines is

"Two on one can by far get much"

Asides the last word which is a rhyming word in this particular line, all others are three letters words or less. Ability to do all these make up the Funom's Sonnet.

True Brotherhood

To all, one is the chemistry
in one tag, in a big pumpkin
dog has no say in a poultry
cos it is no next-of-kin
one big hug, a hot luxury
the sun in the sky is akin
one to ten, it's a big pastry
all in an arc and a skin
no tax to get the bad orange
as tit for tat is so strange
any but one is a bad range
so for all, it is not a pile
no gun or sub, all is the tile
get one eye to leg any Nile.
