tropics

We are happier, under the Tropics,
In a smaller cargo ship,
Who goes towards Mozambique,
Happier than  rue de la république ;
We are happier under the Tropics,

How old is the captain then?
He could be your stepfather,
He saw the Philippines

Did he read, Jean Giono?
In his  cozy small cabin?
In a smaller cargo ship,
Who goes towards Mozambique,
We are happier, under the Tropics

NB inspired by the commercial port

I’ve traveled the world via the interprets of others’ little corners of that part that they themselves share their immortal narrative joy.

You seem to be an eternal traveller going from place to place. In your poems, you refer to many places and many scenes. The cargo ship and its captain mentioned by you, I hope, is spotted by you during your travels. Thanks for sharing.

Now you have me looking up the author, Jean Giono. Found one book in my library, “The Open Road.” Can’t read it yet because I have a stack to go through…lol! Love your pondering. I am always intrigued! <3

It resonates with a haunting grace, a meager whisper to this destitute corner of the tropics, where the port of Mozambique stands under the shadow of its ruler, Samora.

Sounds dreamy and exotic to this landlocked Chicagoan. ~ Gershon
