Contest-Summer Sonnets

Tropical Summers, where the fruit is fresh And sweat drips heavily upon the sand Heat of the Summer clings tight to the flesh When bodies lie on the sand getting tan These days of Summer are dressed in wonder As I sit cool in the shade of a palm Where the sea breeze moves fronds, I sit under Away from the beach, where the view is calm I'll watch white waves as they come ashore And count the ships on the horizon's line I'll watch the gulls fight for scraps found onshore See clouds to the East, an ominous sign This is the place I came to retire To rest beneath palms before I expire

after reading your poem, I want to retire, too, to a tropical place. Best wishes with the contest.
