Trophy Obsession

So many trophies she had!
       "Wow, I want them all!"
       Oh my, she was bad..
Poetry to her, became no more
       than a bowling alley.
       Where she could score more
       trophies than her friend, Sally.
       All that mattered to her,
was to maintain a higher tally!

We should never become obsessed with things like that, contests sometimes give inspiration when you're looking for ideas. One thing for sure when we leave this life we go out with nothing. Tom

I agree with all you said)))) Since I am Limerick Lame, this was more light than serious. I even classified it as humorous. While we are here, some get obsessed, I think.))))) Pangie

Nice Pangie. The fun for me is in the writing. Contests are fun but not ego absorbing. :) Linda

I just like the writing.... Contests are for people who enjoy competition...I prefer aPOTD. But poets BOO some of them as garbage. Who knows, it's all opinion. The Poets most arrogant will rarely comment om a POTD. That's OK, it's their choice. I miss many of them myself. It's not a religious thing here to comment to one, nor a rquirement. Nothing is required here. Being civil, is. Panagiota

Good one, Pangie. I've won a few contests but I value more the love & praise I get from my kids & grandkids when they say "I love you, Dad". Bob

Hello Panagiota, I would not be able to judge a poem for a contest. I would not be able to choose the right poem for a winner. Hugs Darlene xx

Darlene, you are hilarious..I never thought of that One. Since they are non-existent unlike the Stanley Cup~ what's the point? Poem's in contests are all good. One person deciding? Unfair. Need a board not made up of soup members. Moreover, I have no degree in teaching poetry...so I would never run or judge one. Thanks hugs Pangie xxx
