Trills of Petrichor

The birdie whistled A wet and wild song; Damp feathers bristled. Wild song, rain-scented; Trills of petrichor, With flapping, vented. Petrichor afresh. A hot steam, released. Buds unfurl-refresh. Released melody; Shines sweet bluebird’s wings In storm’s brevity. Bluebird’s wings fluff bright, As the sun billows, At the beak’s delight. Billows, of warm tweet And zephyr, compete.

I think I am confused how to do abab after seeing the example here again. I am confused how to include a middle lines last word into first line of next stanza. Is this word necessary? Can you tell me where sn abab example might be?

No, it is not necessary…just consistency in what you do. Hope that helps! <3

This is a fantastic example, Kim. After reading the guidelines, I began to appreciate 'Chanso' for the intricate lyrical form that it is. However, you have simplified things greatly. Beautiful poetry on the smell of fresh rain, the bluebird, and petrichor.

Please do! First decide how many lines you want in each verse and the syllable count. There needs to be a rhyming pattern. Have fun!

I had to look up "Petrichor"...it was worth it. Amazing poetry! Another FAV! "Bluebird’s wings fluff bright, As the sun billows, at the beak’s delight." Love it!

This is a great model, Kim. While going through the rules, I felt 'Chanso' as a complex poetic form. But you have made it sweet and simple here. Lovely poem on the first rain, its petrichor and the blue bird !
