Tribute To Daniel

“In this life there’s been heartache and pain”
How could I begin to find love again
Desperado walking a tightrope
I looked down and Daniel gave me hope

“The first time ever I saw your face”
Cold heart melted, longed for your embrace
Your compassion and character shone
No longer could I live all alone

“You took my love and you took it down”
Felt lighter than air with feet on the ground
A love without chains, a soul unbound
But walls closed in as I watched you drown

"In a New York minute everything can change"
Sometimes life takes twists that seem strange
A human chain was formed to find my man
Reaching up was Daniel's lifeless hand

Efforts to save, resuscitate
Proved futile to fight the hands of fate
Casket sent home, called his folks to explain
“Daniel is traveling tonight on a plane”

Really loved this most heart felt, and tender piece of poetry you have written. thank you for your comment on Then came the rains. yes when i posted this poem, the two blank pages popped up there, i only wrote one poem, but i went to it and deleted the blank spaces, but thank you and everyone else that pointed that out to me.

This contest sure is coming up with such unique renditions, and yours is such a touching one, Carolyn, especially after reading the note at the bottom and that last line was just a heart wrencher-- I'm sorry to hear that-- but this sure is a wonderful tribute to your Daniel... hugs and yay for you as well for doing other things ;)

This is a wonderful tribute. It's like your heart knew just the right songs to pick to reveal your emotions and tell your story. Still, I'm sorry something so tragic happened to you. I'm sure it's little consolation that from it, you birthed a beautiful poem. Anyway, I wish you luck in the contest, but more importantly, I wish you joy in your heart.
