Trepidations
Fantasies take fledgling feelings
far beyond infatuation.
And passion's flame soon ignites:
burning with pure exultation.
Hypnotized by your sexy smile,
I truly believed you loved me.
And that altered reality
showed me what I wanted to see.
When sharing intimate moments,
my doubts would simply slip away.
Yet, you took advantage of me
and deftly led my heart astray.
Stunned by betrayal and deceit,
a sea of tears morphed into fear.
And as lies muddied the waters,
my future was no longer clear.
An eruption of emotions
explodes: in all of its fury.
And facing an onslaught of hurt,
anger became judge and jury.
Despite all my trepidations,
I admit, I will miss your charm.
Yet, though it's hard to forget you,
it's harder to forgive the harm.
