Tree Song

Autumn is here

My children all let go.

Blankets on my feet they lay.

I wait and wish for growth again .

I am still.

I feel a soaking cold ; a dreadful chill

I battle death .

I hope survival

I deny pain.

I feed on icy frosty rain.

I will sleep and dream.

Cling while hoping.

For an awakening joy ,

See babes growing .

Patiently I sleep and dream until at last I rise again .

Spring has finally come.

Am I finished ?

Is it done ?
