Tree-High Nest
I want to have a tree-high nest
Where silence does not cease,
And leave the rest
At peace.
While there, I’ll dream of birds and fays
Without the care of time,
And live my days
In rhyme.
The summer’s heat will roll a-swing
To visit my abode
And gently sing
Her ode.
The winter cold shall never touch
My heart while I am there,
At ease in such
A lair.
The ages of the world shall pass
Like shadows in a dream
Whose colored glass
Will gleam.
