All through this journey I can hear soft sighs. The darkness a black universe around. Against me hands, or feet, and someone cries. In nearness of small bodies warmth is found. Lightyears ago there was firm ground, and earth; There was something called food, there was a drink; There was this feeling I was something, worth Of seeing, hearing, compassion, but I think Somewhere along the way they changed from light to dark, so none can see what has become Of children when they take away plain sight, Parents, safety, relative comfort of a home. This darkness complements their naked lies As numb in mind as toes and fingers cold I light my last match, quickly count our eyes..... Sixteen in total, eight children to be sold. *** January 15, 2017 7th place in contest: Travel Light Sponsor: Kai Michael Neumann

Really wonderfully written, Darren, and very powerful ... a plight that needs much more attention and action than it's getting ... why? I think many people find it a tough thing to discuss, but the more it's written about and brought forward, the better. Great stuff, my friend - kudos!

It is depressing to know things like this are going on and nothing is being done about it, nothing. What can be done? Congratulations on your placement.

I could feel the fear and the sadness in this finely written poem Darren. This was dark and deep and extremely frightening. Good luck in the contest my friend.
