Travel

Trains, once a proud means of travel.
Now the locomotive has been replaced.

We travel by cars, buses, jets and
planes fill seats as onward travelers fly.

Leaving relics of history tucked in the pages
                                      of songbooks and poetry.

Anna, congratulations on your placement in the 'Railroads, A Historical Glance Back' poetry contest with your poem 'Travel'. I sometimes wonder if rail travel will come back in a 'new and improved' form someday... especially if it uses clean energy. I had a dream once that I was on a beautiful sleek train many years ago, and in the dream, I was very old. The train was beautiful, futuristic, fast, clean and amazing! Maybe my dream will come true! Thank you so much for your contribution! ~BJ

Thank you, BJ! I hope that your dream does come true. Even before you are an older woman. :)

I am surprised Sears, Wal*Mart, farmers' market, flea markets, et al have not pushed against online shopping with "mall" trains to service small towns now that so many shops have closed . . . ..

That is interesting, and really sad that a lot of small-town shops are closing down...
