Trapped Emotions

"Old Emotions"

Old emotions trapped deep inside
Don't always surface
Until one spits in my eyes

Deep rooted pain throughout my past
Began as a little girl
Hoping rejection wouldn't last

Growing up, as years went by
It didn't get much easier
So often I dried my eyes

Even with all the talents I had
My insecurities sang stronger
Longing for friends & love of a dad

Now I choose to look deep inside
Shining some light
Finding strength when I cry

Much I really don't understand
The depths of the pain and hurt
Still buried in the sand

Where did it come from, and why
As early as I can remember
Something was always hurting inside

But from it all, I now can see
That each of my stumbling blocks
Gives me steps to be free

I will learn and I will grow
Finding strength within
Facing insecurities toe to toe!
