Tragedy In Black

black
my soul
when we met
my thirst for you
dark and rapacious
with endless  jealousy
my addiction teasing me
engulfing me in emptiness
my need drawing me ever closer
into your obsessive self absorption

The poem's imagery of addiction and what it does to the soul whether read top to bottom or bottom to top blackens the soul. Very nice use of words and imagery. Login to Reply James Inman Date: 8/20/2015 12:34:00 PM Thank you Frank, I must admit that the reverse read was not intentional but as I reread it several times while writing it I noticed the interesting flow of the piece when reading from top to bottom. It takes on a different meaning. An astute eye you have. Thanks for the great comment.
