Track Through the Desert

Track Through The Desert

The place is Arabia in the early 1900's. An Arab boy is sent on a mission
To find help for his Arab community. Their people are very sick and
Face certain death as they have contracted a mysterious disease. The
Boy whose name is Jai takes a horse to ride through the desert to an
Outpost about 50 miles away. It is controlled by British soldiers who have
Been stationed there after a serious uprising staged by the renegade Arabs.
They have been looting and killing in many friendly Arab camps. Jai has to
Somehow bring back a doctor with medical supplies to help the seriously sick
People in Jai's community. The odds seem badly against him. As he progresses
Along the desert, he realises he will have a problem if he encounters these
Renegade Arabs. He comes to an oasis with a lagoon, water's his horse and
Refills his water canteen. He is unaware of the wild life in the area. He hears
A loud neigh of his horse which slumps to the ground. As he goes to
It's aid he sees a snake hissing at him, it is some kind of a poisonous snake.
Jai's picks up a rock and hurls it at the snake and it retreats from him.
His horse lies dead on the ground, in no way can he bury it, so he
Gathers all he can carry and sets off for the outpost. The sun is at it's peak heat.
Even so Jai keeps walking along the hot desert, he has to make it to the
Fort or his people will perish. He also feels unwell as he himself was coming
Down with the same disease, He travels for hours as night is approaching.
His water and food supply is also growing short. He manages to construct a makeshift
Tent among some rocks. Suddenly he sees men approaching on horseback. They are
The rebel Arabs also looking for a place to sleep. Jai get's a chance to make it
Out of the desert. He plans to steal a horse and make off on it. He sneaks around
The rocks and grabs a horse, but first he unties the other horses so he could not be
Followed, the noise alerts the Arabs and as they come out running. Jai rides away
Into the night. By morning he came upon the fort, and is admitted to the commanding
Officer. He explained his urgent need for help and he is granted a doctor with millitary
Escort back to Jai's encampment. On the next day the Doctor arrives in time to treat
ever sick person. Jai is happy and his people throw a banquet in his honour.
Jai will never forget his track through the desert.
