Toy Train

TOY TRAIN

I recall delighting in it
When I was five-and-a-bit
A toy train - very nice.
Engine, to be precise
Green, shining, new
Dream come true;
Biggest best train I ever had
I lost it soon afterwards - bad.
Was it mine or maybe a loaner, say?
A prop from the school play?
Must have been a loaner
But I looked high and low for its owner
Weeks, months passsed
Nowhere to be found, alas
Maybe it was just a dream train
The stuff of castles-in-Spain,
Unfulfilled toy-dreams -
And like all childhood eye-gleams
No matter how enraptured
Dreams can never be recaptured

yes, it's funny how our memories just are not that dependable from when we were so young. But it must have been fun while you had it! congratulations to you. LUv, Andrea
