Toxic
The light in David shone too bright
It should be dimmed or killed
No more did Saul appreciate
What David had fulfilled
How dare he, just a silly lad
A shepherd-boy at best
With skills, and blessings quite a lot
That ruined Saul his zest
So, jealousy and hate he felt
These feelings were so deep
The sight of David he abhorred
Disturbed was now his sleep
But David, who was good at heart
Saw past this toxic mood
He treated Saul with gentleness
He looked hard for the good
But sad to say, sheer wickedness
Had already done its part
Its tentacles now tightly wrapped
Around old Saul his heart.
