Towns with the Names that Slap the Hardest

Crook's Corner

Where three countries meet mischief, commonly known as monkey business, follows. Bootleggers, rebels,dreamers- all drank from the same bottle of danger and mampoer. Even the Namahadi winks,'' I see nothing, hear nothing''.

Frontier smoke rises,
Three lands share crooked laugh-
River keeps your crimes.

Los-My-Cherry

A jealous Oorlam war chief named it thus to warn warn the any lady's man to keep away from his sweetheart.Today only the West wind And the East win flirt here. And the name remains a sign of love long buried.

Wind calls,'' Cherry,stay!''
Hills blush with forgotten love-
Time winks, slips away.

Die Hel
A gorge so deep it scares the sky. Yet those who live here speak softly, love fiercely, and plant dagga in the valley of fear. They say the devil once came looking-and found paradise instead.

Fire's echo cools here,
In Satan's den peach trees bloom
Hell wears heaven's grin

Douse-The-Glim

Named for the moment before dark triumphs. When lamps are snuffed and screams begin the people of Douse-The-Glim tell ghost stories to keep the night awake. Even shadows keep a healthy distance here in reverence-not fear.

Lamp fades,tongue flickers
Stones guard the edge of dark-
Moon lights every lie
