Touch Base

There's something heartwarming in touching base again with distant friends you haven't seen in years for when they vow to stay in touch, and you know they wouldn't, it's still okay, there's no offense, they just couldn't; surely time erodes the fondest of intentions, giving way to stern duties and obligations, but in the waves of silence that wash among them, still swirl bubbles of friendship in joyous rhythm !
