Top 10 Reasons To Stay In Bed

Today the covers I've pulled over my head.
And its not the first time..she guiltily said.
Here's 10 reasons I've stayed in my bed

Its cold and I'm lazy and wont make a fire
Sleep is our friend, you know I'm no liar...

I cant go to work, my review is today
My cranky old boss won't let me play...

I'm sick with a cold, sneezing a lot
I must confess , this excuse ain't so hot...

He dumped me and my heart is so torn
I cant face the day, I feel so forlorn...

My foot hurts so bad I want to shout
Seriously, I think it may be the gout...

Its rained all night, the weather is bad
I need new wipers, now isn't that sad...

Tossed all night, I just couldn't sleep
I'm so sick to death of those miserable sheep...

There's no point, I'm depressed you see
In bed I can truly enjoy my own misery...

If I stay in bed I might lose some weight
I cant eat one thing until that big date....

But the best reason of all to stay in bed
Is that guy beside me..I think his name's Fred
                             ............................ Or was it Ted?

Just in fun. LOL

Belated congratulations on your win in Joe's contest, Barbara!...You are a very funny lady indeed... Love the way you are willing to 'put yourself down'...A true sign of of wisdom for sure! I must confess I have used many of the same excuses to be lazy and lay out of work too! (except the last verse, of course...don't think my boss would buy it!) - Tim

Barbara, what a delightful read. Very much on target with the contest theme and very creative. I like the coupletting of your rhyme. Easy to read, easy to understand and very entertaining. Now, if you can get Fred (or Ted - hey, what's in a name), to fix you breakfast in bed, you'd have it made!

I enjoyed your ten reasons. Couldn't get mine short enough for a form like yours and a couple of others. To make a reason and then a rhyme. Wasn't going to enter and noticed a form called "list" so I used that. And that is just what I have---a list. I guess is better than nothing. I enjoy your poetry but you have to get better with names): small soup mail Charles
