Too Strong

It's clear for anyone to see,
You're strong and independent, too.
To ask anyone for help
Is the last thing you will do.

For the better part of your life
You force yourself to be strong,
Feeling like you had to fight
So you can feel that you belong.

You've been making your own way
For so long you can't recall,
Never showing the pain it caused
And never letting a tear fall.

You've been stronger than needed,
All the pain you didn't need to hide,
But you chose to so that you
Could hold your head up with pride.

You decided to ignore your true self,
Thinking it best to play some part,
In the process you lost yourself
And only calloused your heart.

Insightful and piercing words of self-realization Mathew. :)
