Too Much Sunshine

Too Much Sunshine At night everyone prays Wishing for rain to come The morning often brings hope Dark black clouds float overhead Full of water and promises They fill the skies from edge to edge The plants wait for the rain to fall So do the people who need cooler air But the Sun may have other ideas Heating the air more and more The clouds disappear one by one Until the sky is, once again, nothing but blue And again, the Sun has won The drought continues And everyone has but one thought “Can there be too much sunshine”
