Tomorrow and Yesterday
I tried to look for Heaven
It was nowhere to be found
There were many people dying
all laying on the ground
It wasn’t just one country
The big and small ones too
The rich were getting richer
and the poor had nothing to do
Robots took all our purpose
Made cars and shoes for feet
All the factories now automated
Packaging all the food we eat
So much plastic it overwhelms us
Micro beads in the water we drink
The abyss we now can see it
Why haven’t we changed the way we think
The future used to be brighter
Instead our optimism has gone away
Predictions all spell disaster
Now we long for yesterday
So will we discover answers
Or try to go it on our own
If we look beyond our selfish
We’ll realize we must atone
So yes the future has purpose
There is much to learn and teach
When we start to Love each other
Heaven will be within our reach
I looked to the horizon
Beyond tomorrow and Yesterday
Jesus whispered to my spirit
“I offer light to light your way!”
